What I’ve been listening to this week!

Another week, another music roundup. I like making a lil’ list like this because it isn’t just a smattering of tunes, you’re also getting a little insight into the content I consume throughout the week.

1. Sideshow by the Seashore - Luna

I was listening to a recent episode of the Transmissions podcast by Aquarium Drunkard with Dean Wareham who I, as an indie rock dude, know from his work in Galaxy 500. I was not familiar with his post Galaxy work though and have been digging this tune from Luna.

2. The Line - Trace Mountains

A grooving tune.

3. Mendicant - Cola

I don’t typically listen to a lot of post-punk, angular guitar riffage music but there’s just something about Cola that always works for me.

4. Metal - The Beths

Cool new song from The Beths. For my money (I have none), they have some of the best harmonies in capital-R ROCK music out there.

5. Dogs - Cash Langdon

Another Aquarium Drunkard shout. They wrote about this album on their site. This one is a real rocker. It sounds cinematic if that makes sense? Long intro that builds up and then you get that real thump-thump bass and drum sound. Two thumbs up from me.

6. Lucy - Goodfight

Heard this on Malimatt Live! Sunday night while I was folding laundry. It’s also on their weekly playlist which gets a refresh every week.

7. Death Kink - Fontaines D.C.

Saw these blokes on Wednesday night but the bastards had the nerve to not bust out this one. Regardless, great show.

8. Playing Diamonds Cashing Checks - Chaparelle

Woah a country tune shoutout. I keep walking around the house singing, “Playing Diamond Cashing Checks” in my best southern draaaawwwwwwwllll. This song was in an instagram post by Jess Williamson, a sort of indie/country/singer-songwriter if you will.

9. Rock & Roll - The Velvet Underground

I’ve been listening to a lot of these peeps lately. Better late than never.

10. Real Estate Agent - Kitchen

I forget where I saw this project mentioned. Emo-indie-shit. Good tune.
