Post #41 - Killer Profile with Chris Sunshine

We've got (Chris) Sunshine On a Cloudy Day

Today’s newsletter debuts a new feature I am calling the Killer Profile... The goal is to throw some goofy and off-kilter questions at artists to see if I can reveal a lil’ something about their psyche. This week we are talking to Chris Jones, whose musical project Chris Sunshine released a sick new album earlier this year called HELLMAXXING.

Ableton is his laboratory and Chris is the mad scientist pitch shifting vocals, bending slick guitar riffs and creating diverse sonic landscapes across 14 songs. Merging classic rock instrumentation with all of the bee-boop glitchy glory of modern digital effects, the tunes continue to reward on repeat listening.

If you’re into the deafening swoosh and swirl of classic indie rock icons like My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth, then I think this could be for you. One of the standout tracks for me is “Sycamore,” which fully encompasses the great 90s rock loud/quiet dynamic by starting off with a jangly acoustic guitar intro that erupts with a brain tingling riff. I’m also a big fan of the song “Cyber Angel” and it’s trippy video which I will link to below.

Ok here we go! Let’s hear from Chris on the paranormal, pumpkin spice and how he likes his coffee.
